Deck Of Cards System

This is where I will talk about how my version of the Deck Of Cards RPG system will work

General Rules

  1. Have Fun
  2. Play until all the cards are gone
    • Meaning that there are no more cards in the Deck not when the players are out of cards in their hand
  3. Each Player is dealt 3 cards
  4. The Dealer gets no hand

Game Session Setup

  1. Choose whether or not to use JokersRules
  2. Shuffle the deck thoroughly
  3. Each player is dealt 3 cards, the dealer gets no cards
  4. The dealer keeps the remaining cards face down

Terms

  • Deck - a normal deck of playing cards(52 normal cards and two optional jokers)
  • Action Pile - The pile of cards that is being used for the current action
  • Discard Pile - The pile of cards that is no longer in use
  • Dealer - Synonym with Storyteller, GM and so on

Card Hierarchy

Value

  • Numerical order for normal cards
  • Jack → Queen → King for face cards
  • Ace is always the highest

Suit (High to Low)

  1. Spade
  2. Diamond
  3. Club
  4. Heart

Non-Combat

Combat

  1. High card wins - see hierarchy for ties
  2. Face Cards
  3. Ace

Joker Rules

  • OPTIONAL - may choose not to have them at all
  • Only two per Deck

Players with a Joker

Rules:
  • Players MUST choose to play their Joker either before OR after the Dealer draws their card
Pre-Draw
  • Swap a card from their hand with a card from any other player
  • Swap the Joker with a card from the discard pile
Post-Draw
  • The player can replace their card with any other card in the Action Pile (including the Dealer's)

Dealer gets a Joker

  • Dealer has no hand so all actions can be taken only post-draw
Actions
  • Replace the Joker with any other card in the Action Pile
  • Replace the Joker with any card in the Discard Pile

NOTE: If the Joker gets replaced with a card in the Action Pile then the Joker counts as a value 1
